D2 - a high-carbon, high-chromium high-speed tool steel heat-treated to 58-60 HRC. With a high chromium content of 13.0% (Cr), it offers greater corrosion resistance than most high-carbon steels. Combines strength, excellent edge holding and easy sharpening. Features high wear resistance due to high carbide content in the microstructure.

Convex (convex grind) - the side surfaces of the grind are convex, and converge to the edge of the blade. The advantages of such a solution are: ease of manufacture (especially by hand), very little loss of material during production, very large cross-section of the blade (high strength). Compared to 'traditional' Blade, convex grind going directly into the blade makes it more resistant to chipping, and has less resistance to cutting.
