Reate K-3 Drop Point Grey Titanium / Carbon Fiber, Satin ultra-modern folding knife from the legendary Reate Knives manufactory. Stunning workmanship and the finest materials are the hallmark of this company's knives. The ergonomics of the titanium Handle with Carbon Fiber inserts as well as the clean lines of the CTS-204P steel blade are sublime. Such quality is something that many western manufacturers can only dream of. And we are writing about a production knife!
Reate is a brand synonymous with the construction and production of high-quality knives. Its founder, David Deng, has been a knife enthusiast for a long time, with a background in mechanical design and manufacturing, constantly striving for excellence in all knife designs produced by Reate. Precision EDM wire cutting, high-speed CNC engraving, laser engraving, milling operations, CNC grinding, low-temperature tempering ovens, custom hand finishing, to name just a few of the professional tools they use in the manufacturing process. High-quality blade steel and production materials are purchased directly from the USA, Germany and Japan. Common steels used in our manufacturing process are: Bohler M390, S35VN, S30V, S90V, VG10, RWL34 and Damascus. Handle materials we use include: 6AL4V titanium, carbon fibre, G10, copper, aluminium, wood, as well as natural materials.
CTS® 204P is a highly wear- and corrosion-resistant, martensitic stainless steel produced using the Micro-Melt® powder metallurgy (P/M) process. The alloy's excellent wear resistance is provided by a significant volume proportion of hard vanadium-rich carbides, while exceptional corrosion resistance is achieved through a chromium-rich matrix. The use of Micro-Melt P/M processing creates a segregation-free and uniformly fine distribution of carbides and grain sizes and, combined with the use of melt filtration, results in improved purity and strength compared to conventionally cast and forged materials. CTS 204P's uniform microstructure, fine carbide distribution, purity and high chromium content are responsible for the excellent combination of wear resistance, toughness, polishability and corrosion resistance. In heavy-duty applications requiring toughness and good wear and corrosion resistance, CTS 204P can reduce machining requirements by up to 75% compared to conventional methods.
Blade - drop point type, finished with an elegant brushed satin finish. The generous belly extends the length of the cutting edge relative to the length of the blade converging towards the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The thickness of the blade provides high strength while the high, flat grind gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. The multi-row ball bearing system ensures an extremely smooth opening of the blade with the quick index-finger flipper when opened acting as a deicer. A section of the back of the blade is covered with the upper jimping, a notched thumb rest for easy control of the knife. The whole thing is locked with a proven and popular frame lock with a steel insert that prevents the face of the lock from rubbing off.
Handle - in 6AL4V titanium, the artful Carbon Fiber inserts contrast beautifully with the titanium. Contouring of the covers eliminates sharp edges. The grips are joined together by a titanium backspacer. The spine of the backspacer is covered with upper jimping, a notch that improves grip security. The simplicity and robustness of the construction ensure many years of use. The single-position (right) clip, milled from a single piece of titanium, allows the knife to be carried in the tip-up position. Behind the clip is a space for threading a safety or decorative cord. The pivot is decorated with a stylised screw.
Carrying case - a soft zipped nylon case with the manufacturer's logo is included for safe storage and transport of the folder.
