FOX Knives Folding Karambit Emerson Opener (FX-599)

FX-599, a folding knife made by the Italian Company FOX. The folder shows how much traditional karambit knives from Southeast Asia have evolved. Hawkbill blade made of N690Co steel with Idroglider® Black coating, Clip Tip-Up type, three quick opening systems of the Emerson hook, a flipper and a longitudinal cut.

Karambit - kind of knife that was born in Indonesia, with roots dating back to Malaysia and the Philippines. It is characterized by a finger ring and a sickle-shaped blade, which is very effective in cutting - it mimics the way an eagle or a tiger's claw is torn apart. Used as a work knife and for defense.

Emerson Opener (Emerson Wave) - patented by Ernest Emerson, placed on the spine of the blade - a hook allowing for quick opening of the blade when removing the knife from the pocket by hooking the hook to the edge of the pocket.

N690Co - high carbon stainless steel with cobalt addition for structural uniformity. Hardened in the range of 58-60 HRC. Manufactured in the Austrian Böhler-Uddeholm steelworks.

Idroglider® Black - scratch-resistant, matte, non-reflective coating made of PTFE. Provides long blade life and resistance to rust.

Blade - with an aggressive Hawkbill profile, the rounded shape of the blade is characterized by great efficiency and cutting speed. The Hawkbill profile mimics the way an eagle claw or tiger claw tears, pierces and cuts simultaneously. Smooth blade (Plain type) with an ultra-thin tip and perfect curvature for maximum cutting capacity. The oval cut in the blade has increased the hump of the thumb rest (ramp), which positions the thumb directly over the opening, allowing the knife to be opened quickly even with the glove. Handle - non-slip linings with a Rouge type texture for better grip. Made of durable, resistant to mechanical damage, chemicals and low temperatures G10 material. They do not conduct electricity, they prevent the gloves from freezing to the covers. Open-backed design reduces weight, simplifies cleaning. Spine jimping notches on the back of the handle for a secure grip. Mounting clip (left / right) for carrying the knife in the tip-up position with the tip up.
