Spyderco Stovepipe Titanium CPM 20CV Plain (C260TIP)
- The Stovepipe Titanium CPM 20CV is a powerful, industrial design by David Rydbom for Spyderco. The best materials and impeccable workmanship combine with an absolutely unique line of the knife. Absolute "must have" for every Spider fan!!!
Stovepipe Titanium is a David Rydbom designed renowned knifemaker strong knife with a Wharncliffe blade profile. Sophisticated ergonomics complement the natural curves of the hand for maximum surface contact and superior control. Industrial design meets the best materials and technology here, such as the RIL lock, titanium handle and CPM 20CV steel.
CPM 20CV - one of the best tool steels, American premium martensitic stainless steel. Manufactured by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy / Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) method. The CPM process creates a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods. Designed to provide better wear resistance while maintaining corrosion resistance at the highest level. This super steel is comparable to Bohler's M390 steel or Carpenter's CTS-204P. According to some knife manufacturers, 20CV is the best of these three steels in terms of edge retention. It consists of 19.0% carbon (C), 20.0% chromium (Cr), 4.0% vanadium (V), 1.0% molybdenum (Mo) and 0.6% tungsten (W). The high percentage of chromium with a touch of molybdenum makes 20CV one of the best high-end corrosion-resistant steels.
Reeve Integral-Lock - (R.I.L.) a reinforced, monolithic Frame-Lock type blade lock. One of the facings acts as a locking mechanism.
Blade - with Warncliff profile, thickness 4.0 mm. Plain blade with Hollow Grind. The straight concave cutting edge provides exceptional cutting performance by transferring power to the blade tip for improved scoring strength. The enlarged 14mm round SpyderHole cutout (Spyderco patent) allows easy opening of the blade with a glove as well as wet, sweaty hands. All finished with Stonewash, a method that fits well with the design of the knife.
Handle - solid titanium, anatomically profiled for better grip. Enlarged pivot bolt serves as a stopper preventing too much bending of the locking leaf. Solid titanium one-position (right) clip, allowing to carry the knife in tip-up position. The whole, as well as the blade finished with Stonewash, emphasizing the industrial roots of the design.
