Spending most of his time away from home, Ben has a particular interest in knives with blades under 3". Lightweight, compact folders that don't weigh down your pocket, ideal for everyday carry.
Ben Petersen came into contact with the knife industry in 2011, supplementing his college education with a casual job making YouTube videos. The vortex of the knife world drew him in and he spent the next eight years working full-time in the industry at a knife retailer and manufacturer. He dealt with thousands of knives, recording more than 1,000 knife videos and producing knife marketing content for the entire industry. During his travels, Ben developed a particular preference for knives, such as blades under 3 inches and a fondness for blue Handle grips in simple designs. After years of advertising other people's knives, Ben created his first EC design called "Banter." It is a thoughtful combination of all the features Ben loves in knives. When he's not working on knives, Ben spends most of his time backpacking, biking and exploring his home state of Utah with his wife and four children. And like him, they all like knives, too.
CPM S35VN - American martensitic stainless steel blade designed to provide improved strength over CPM S30V, while maintaining corrosion resistance at the highest level. The chemical composition has been balanced so that it is composed of 0.5% niobium carbides along with 3.0% vanadium and 14.0% chromium carbides. Replacing some of the niobium carbides with vanadium carbides makes it about 15-20% harder than S30V without losing wear resistance. It is also easier to machine and polish. The improved CPM strength of S35VN provides better resistance to edge chipping. The CPM process produces a very uniform, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods. Manufactured in Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM) mills.
Drop point blade with well defined belly finished in Black Stonewashed method with black coating to hide minor scratches caused by use. Small thickness of blade in combination with high, flat grind gives perfect geometry of cutting edge and extreme cutting efficiency. Ceramic ball bearings in the basket aid in the smooth and seamless operation of the blade ejection mechanism, which can be opened with the thumb using the Thumb Studs on both sides. Liner-Lock mechanism. Upper jumping, notched thumb rest on the back of the blade for better control.
Handle - presentation side made of Marble Carbon Fiber, lock side made of 6AL4V titanium. Open-backed design attached to each other with steel spacer sleeves reduces weight and facilitates cleaning. The pivot is decorated with a stylized WE brand logo. Right-side, one-position metal deep carry clip allows you to carry the knife discreetly in your pocket in tip-up position. Lanyard hole on back of handle for cord.
Case - the knife is packed in a zippered soft nylon case with the manufacturer's logo for safe storage and transport of the folder.
