Jim O'Young - after a 20-year career as a mechanical design engineer in the electronics industry in Silicon Valley, Jim began to pursue his passions: sport shooting and the design and manufacture of innovative small arms and knives. Jim applied his knowledge and experience to the SpeedTech Synergy project using SolidWorks, a state-of-the-art CAD tool for 3D solid modelling. It was the first knife created using this technology and incorporated several design elements never before used in a serialised folder: an ergonomic, fully 3D digitally sculpted handle surface made from a single solid block of material, a floating bearing system and a button lock with enhanced interlocking geometry. The Synergy was ahead of its time and was awarded Most Innovative American Design at the 1999 Blade Show.
Nitro-V - a new chrome-based stainless martensitic knife steel introduced by New Jersey Steel Baron (NJSB). The manufacturer used the existing superior AEB-L knife steel and upgraded it with nitrogen and vanadium to improve edge performance and achieve high hardness and extreme corrosion resistance, especially crucial in the marine industry and humid environments. Nitro V can be used in diving knives due to its resistance to staining and corrosion. The recommended working hardness is between 58-62HRC, and it has very good impact strength compared to other steels. It is harder than stainless powder steels such as M390, Elmax and S35VN. Nitro-V will therefore be well suited to knives requiring good strength.
Nested Liner Lock, a modification of the liner-lock by nesting the liner of the locking mechanism in the grip.
Blade - tanto type, finished with an elegant satin finish giving a semi-matte effect. The generous bolster extends the length of the cutting edge in relation to the length of the blade, converging towards the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The thickness of the blade provides high strength while the high, flat grind gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ball bearing ceramic supports the opening of the blade with a quick flipper flipper (index-finger flipper). When opened, the flipper forms a mini-guard to prevent the hand from slipping on the blade. The entire blade is locked with a modern Nested Liner Lock.
Handle - grips in grey G10, fibreglass pressed with resin, with a beautiful pattern of concentrically spreading circles. The chamfered edges of the covers eliminate sharp edges for comfort and improve grip confidence. The backspacer is made from the same material as the Handle grips. The pivot is decorated with a stylised Civivi brand logo. The single-position, right-handed deep carry clip allows the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket in the tip-up position (blade tip up).
Case - included zipped soft nylon case with manufacturer's logo for safe storage and transportation of the folder.

Przeczytaj!
This product is intended for use only by adults with knowledge and experience in handling sharp cutting tools. Improper use of the knife can result in serious injuries. The blade is extremely sharp and can easily cut through skin and tissue; therefore, extra caution should always be exercised while cutting, and hands should be kept away from the cutting edge. To prevent the knife from slipping, it is recommended to cut on a stable, non-slip surface and avoid excessive force, which may cause uncontrolled blade movement.
Leaving the knife on the edge of a table, countertop, or in easily accessible places—especially where children are present—poses a significant safety risk. The knife should always be properly secured after use, ideally by placing it on a stable surface or storing it in designated knife blocks, protective sheaths, or magnetic strips. The knife should never be used for tasks it is not designed for, such as opening cans or prying objects, as this can damage the tool and lead to dangerous accidents.
A dull blade increases the risk of injury, as it requires more force and is more likely to slip from the material being cut. Therefore, it is essential to sharpen the knife regularly to maintain optimal sharpness. Additionally, proper cleaning and drying of the knife are necessary to prevent corrosion and bacterial growth. Periodic inspection of the handle and blade is recommended to check for cracks, chips, or looseness. If any damage is detected, the knife should be repaired or replaced immediately.
When using the knife, focus solely on the task at hand—avoid talking on the phone, watching television, or other distractions while cutting. Ensure proper lighting in the workspace for better visibility and control. Please note that some countries or regions have laws restricting the ownership and carrying of knives. Before purchasing or using this knife, verify that its use is legal in your location according to applicable regulations.
Following these safety guidelines will help ensure safe and effective knife use, minimizing the risk of accidents and extending the lifespan of the tool.
