Reate Knives an unconventional brand that has the courage to become an innovator and challenge the traditional solutions used by modern knife companies. It uses only the highest quality materials to produce perfectly crafted tools. Enjoying a well-deserved reputation as a leader in the world of knives, the brand relies on the highest possible quality of workmanship and an innovative approach to design.
M390 - a martensitic high-performance chrome steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 20.0% (Cr) doped with 1.9% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), hardened between 59-61 HRC, vacuum and cryogenic treatment and double tempering. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - Drop Point type, finished with elegant satin finish. The gentle belly extends the length of the cutting edge in relation to the length of the blade converging towards the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The thickness of the blade provides high strength whilethe high, flat grind gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. For improved piercing capability, a tapered swedge at the top. Ball bearing ceramic supports the opening of the blade with a quick flipper (index-finger flipper) when opened acting as a stag. We can also open the knife using a hole in the wedge. The entire blade is locked with the proven and popular frame lock with a steel inlay to prevent wiping of the lock face. Additional security is provided by two steel cylinders above the pivot, which, when pressed, positively lock the Blade giving the confidence to use on par with a fixed blade.
Handle - made of solid titanium 6AL4V, perfectly milled on CNC machine tools. Contouring of the cover eliminates sharp edges. Only a few companies are able to make the Handle with such incredible accuracy! The grips are joined together using a zirconium backspacer. A single-position (right) zirconium clip allows the knife to be carried in tip-up position. On the back, a slide releases an additional lock in the form of two steel cylinders located above the pivot. The lock also works when the knife is closed, preventing accidental opening. The protruding section of the backspacer can be used as an improvised glass breaker, and also has a hole for a safety or decorative cord.
