Microtech Hera II D/E Black Aluminum, Black M390MK by Tony and Sean Marfione
- Hera II D/E Black Aluminum, Black one of the best OTF automatic knives. Convenient to carry, while retaining the power of larger models. Designed by Anthony Marfione knifemaker and owner of Microtech Knives.
Hera II D/E Black Aluminum, Black one of the best and versatile OTF (Out The Front) automatic knives. Modeled after the iconic Troodon automatic, it is an intermediate link between EDC and tactical models. The over-the-top automatic operates in D/A (Double Action) mode using an opening mechanism that works with great force and power. This model features an excellent fit and superb finish. Designed by Anthony Marfione knifemaker and owner of Microtech Knives.
Hera Series - OTF tactical automatic knives, which feature the perfect combination of utility and aesthetics. Knives with D/E and SE blades and handles made of anodized aircraft-grade aluminum. A unique feature of Hera automatic knives is a milled titanium pocket clip equipped with a smooth rollerball, thanks to which the knife easily slips into any pocket.
M390MK - a collaboration between Microtech and Böhler engineers resulted in an exclusive version of M390 steel made only for Microtech. The carbon content has been increased and subjected to closer scrutiny thus improving the properties of M390 steel to provide better edge retention, corrosion resistance and polishing. Martensitic high-performance chromium steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 19.0% (Cr) doped with 1.95% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), and is hardened between 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - machine ground D/E (Double Edge Dagger) type, coated with a black protective coating. The blade was brought out with a high flat grind (Flat Grind), providing excellent cutting properties with a central grain. As a result, the knife has excellent piercing properties while maintaining its strength. The strong mechanism of extending/retracting the blade with the help of the mothballed Thumb Slide, a stepped thumb slide, requires for safety the application of a specific force to overcome the resistance of the spring. The method of opening provides seamless opening for both right and left-handed people.
Handle - made with excellent precision in 3D technology on CNC milling machines, from black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum. The surface texture of the Handle makes the knife non-slip in the hand during use. There are notches (jimping) on the back and bottom of the handle for a more secure grip. Slim profile and milled from titanium, the two-position (right/left) pocket clip allows the knife to be carried in tip-down (blade tip down) position. Equipped with a smooth rollerball, which allows the knife to slide easily into a pocket without damaging the pocket edges.
