Designed for a wide range of utility applications, it boasts a size 25% larger than the flagship Troodon. Precisely crafted, it features a sophisticated and hellishly fast mechanism that extends the razor-sharp blade. It is 100% made and assembled in the USA. Combat Troodon OTF Line - Troodon means "wounding tooth" in Greek. Although the name was first given to a Raptor-like dinosaur, the name is equally appropriate for Microtech's large OTF knife, designed for all sorts of uses and close combat. The over-the-top, D/A (Double Action) automatic knife is a favorite OTF among law enforcement officers, US armed forces and emergency services personnel. Its rugged construction makes the Combat Troodon® suitable for heavy use, and the advantages of the Out The Front automatic also make it an excellent knife for everyday carry.
M390MK - a collaboration between Microtech and Böhler engineers resulted in an exclusive version of M390 steel made only for Microtech. The carbon content has been increased and subjected to closer scrutiny thus improving the properties of M390 steel to provide better edge retention, corrosion resistance and polishing. Martensitic high-performance chromium steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 19.0% (Cr) doped with 1.95% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), and is hardened to 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - machine-ground featuring a D/E (Double Edge) Dagger, sharpened on both sides, with a long blood-draining slots (drainage inlets) on each side for added reinforcement. Finished with a striking Black Finish method, black-coated grinds and blood-draining slots (drainage inlets), the rest is satin-finished. The blade was brought out with a high flat grind, providing excellent cutting properties. As a result, the knife has excellent piercing properties while maintaining its strength. The centrally placed grain further strengthens the blade. The strong mechanism of extending/retracting the blade with the help of the moled Thumb Slide, a stepped slide under the thumb requires for safety the application of a specific force to overcome the resistance of the spring. The method of opening provides seamless opening for both right and left-handed people.
Handle - made with excellent precision in 3D technology on CNC milling machines, from polished 6061-T6 aluminum. The surface texture of the Handle and the deep notches (jimping) on it make the knife non-slip in the hand during use. The slim profile and the milled two-position (right/left) solid deep-carry clip allow the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket, in tip-down (blade tip down) position. The clip bears the Microtech logo, serial number and production date. The Handle is finished with a glass breaker, a solid steel triangle into which a tungsten carbide ball has been pressed. It also features a hole for interweaving a decorative cord.
