Infraction Tumbled Titanium, Flamed HW/Clip, Tumbled, proposal for those who find a full-size folding knife a bit bulky. MKT has embarked on a mission to create a true marvel - a folding knife with handmade customizations, featuring slimmer lines than the Praetorian series, yet still built like a tank. A "Made in USA" workhorse knife designed for the toughest cutting tasks is one of the smallest and lightest knives with ever produced.
Each Medford is handmade by talented knife makers. Therefore, there may be individual differences that make each knife unique. Production of most knives takes about a year after the order is placed. Like other knives from Medford Knife & Tool, the Infraction features a hand-crafted hollow grind. This is a unique feature: only a few manufacturers are capable of making a hollow grind by hand.
Greg Medford's idea was to create the most reliable knives imaginable while retaining their beauty and adding the “soul” of hand finishing.
CPM S45VN - American martensitic high-alloy stainless steel with a hardness of 59-61 HRC, one of the best steels for blades. Designed to provide better strength compared to CPM S30V, while keeping corrosion resistance at the highest level. Manufactured by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy / Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) method. The CPM process creates a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods. The chemical composition has been balanced so that it is composed of 0.5% niobium carbides (Nb) along with 3.0% vanadium (V) and 14.0% chromium (Cr) carbides. The improved strength of CPM S45VN also provides better resistance to edge chipping.
Blade - slim Drop Point profile finished with a machine-applied "tumbled" technique. The hand-crafted medium-height hollow grind delivers exceptional piercing and slicing capabilities with tank-like durability. The striking combination of the finger groove and thumb hole and the minimalist front flipper make the blade truly unique. To enhance resistance to debris, phosphor bronze washers are used, making the pivot mechanism more reliable for field use. A powerful titanium frame lock bar secures the blade from folding, unfolded and secured the knife is as solid as an armoured cash register.
Handle - two solid blocks of titanium, each 28.5 mm thick, finished with a machine-applied "tumbled" technique. The stepped texture of the scales and finger grooves ensure an exceptional grip during use. The titanium backspacer ends in a glass breaker with a hole for interlacing a safety or decorative cord. This is completed by a solid clip, also in titanium, of course.
Included - cardboard box, zippered nylon soft pouch with MKT brand logo for safe storage and transportation of the folder and signed “Certificate of Creation and Authenticity”.
