Spyderco UK Penknife Knife Cobalt Blue G10, Satin CPM SPY27 by Sal Glesser (C94GPCBL)
- UK Penknife Cobalt Blue G10, Satin Plain After the UK banned folders with locking wedges Spyderco developed a UK version of the folding knife with the non-locking Slip-Joint mechanism used in knives.
UK Penknife Cobalt Blue G10, Satin Spyderco has developed a UK version of the folding knife after the UK banned folders with locking wedges. Equipped with a Slip-Joint mechanism, an excellent tool for most cutting jobs, socially friendly and legal in most countries. Manufactured at the Spyderco factory in the USA (Golden, Colorado).
Spyderco has long been considered a leader in the use of high-performance steels for knives. After years of using the best materials that leading steelmakers could provide, the company decided to create its own alloy. In collaboration with Crucible® Industries, it developed its own CPM SPY27 stainless steel, where SPY refers to Spyderco and 27 is the atomic number of cobalt (Co).
CPM SPY27 - a proprietary blend of alloys including vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, nitrogen and cobalt. The high-alloy stainless steel contains 1.4% carbon and a 1% admixture of niobium (Nb), one of the best carbides, which contributes to the steel's wear resistance. Thanks to its properties, the steel holds sharpness for a very long time and guarantees aggressive cuts for a long time. It is easy to sharpen, corrosion resistant and contains a high admixture of 14% chromium. It provides good strength and cutting edge retention, as well as a fine-grained structure. Produced by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy / Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) method. The CPM process creates a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods.
SlipJoint - a non-blocking mechanism used in folders. It uses spring pressure on a flat notch on the back of the Blade to hold the blade open during use. Force is required to fold the knife. SlipJoint holds the blade in both the folded and unfolded positions.
Blade - 2.5mm thick with Leaf-Shaped profile (leaf shape). Plain blade was derived with a Full Flat Grind. The flat grind guarantees perfect geometry of the cutting edge with a sharp tip, reduces the weight of the knife and presents a beautiful satin finish. The SpyderHole circular cutout (Spyderco patent) has increased ramp support hump, which positions the thumb directly over the hole making it easier to quickly open the blade with cold or wet hands. Notched supports: the thumb ramp (spine jimping) and (finger choil jimping), the index finger undercut between the Handle and the cutting edge make it easier to control the knife.
Handle - profiled, covered with non-slip textured grips in Cobalt Blue, attributed to the Blade with SPY27, provides a comfortable and secure grip. Made of durable, heat- and cold-resistant, chemical-resistant G10 plastic. The grips are attached to a sturdy spacer (so-called backspacer / handle grips linkage), which ensures the strength of the construction. The whole thing was fixed with torx screws for easy twisting and unfolding of the folder. Made of wire, screw-on clip (left/right) allows to carry the knife in tip-down position (tip down).

Przeczytaj!
This product is intended for use only by adults with knowledge and experience in handling sharp cutting tools. Improper use of the knife can result in serious injuries. The blade is extremely sharp and can easily cut through skin and tissue; therefore, extra caution should always be exercised while cutting, and hands should be kept away from the cutting edge. To prevent the knife from slipping, it is recommended to cut on a stable, non-slip surface and avoid excessive force, which may cause uncontrolled blade movement.
Leaving the knife on the edge of a table, countertop, or in easily accessible places—especially where children are present—poses a significant safety risk. The knife should always be properly secured after use, ideally by placing it on a stable surface or storing it in designated knife blocks, protective sheaths, or magnetic strips. The knife should never be used for tasks it is not designed for, such as opening cans or prying objects, as this can damage the tool and lead to dangerous accidents.
A dull blade increases the risk of injury, as it requires more force and is more likely to slip from the material being cut. Therefore, it is essential to sharpen the knife regularly to maintain optimal sharpness. Additionally, proper cleaning and drying of the knife are necessary to prevent corrosion and bacterial growth. Periodic inspection of the handle and blade is recommended to check for cracks, chips, or looseness. If any damage is detected, the knife should be repaired or replaced immediately.
When using the knife, focus solely on the task at hand—avoid talking on the phone, watching television, or other distractions while cutting. Ensure proper lighting in the workspace for better visibility and control. Please note that some countries or regions have laws restricting the ownership and carrying of knives. Before purchasing or using this knife, verify that its use is legal in your location according to applicable regulations.
Following these safety guidelines will help ensure safe and effective knife use, minimizing the risk of accidents and extending the lifespan of the tool.
