14C28N, a martensitic chromium stainless steel, is the latest development in a range of knife steels produced by Sandvik's Swedish mills. An optimized chemical composition with a unique combination provides superior quality, excellent edge performance, high hardness and corrosion resistance. By reducing the amount of carbon 0.62% (C) and increasing the chromium content 14.0% (Cr), as well as adding nitrogen 0.11% (N), corrosion resistance has been significantly improved. Considered an improved version of 13C26 steel. Unbeatable in the price/quality category!

Vacuum & Cryogenic - 14C28N steel has undergone a specialized heat treatment process involving two key steps. Vacuum Heat Treatment - the steel is quenched in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the strength and structural integrity of the steel. Cryogenic Treatment Once heated, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -148°F (-100°C). This transformation transforms residual austenite into martensite, significantly increasing hardness, wear resistance and overall durability. Through these advanced processes, 14C28N steel delivers exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and remarkable blade life.

Crossbar Lock - a crossbar that moves horizontally in longitudinal cutouts in the steel side plates of the handle frame. When the knife is opened, the locking bar overlaps the back of the blade from above, preventing its return movement. This beam is pressed down by two springs. Unlocking is done by pulling back the locking bar, the ends of which are accessible through cutouts in the grips on the sides of the Handle grips. In the closed position, the bar presses against the cam surface at the back of the Blade, preventing it from opening on its own. Advantages of the Crossbar Lock include resistance to contamination, practical insensitivity to dynamic loads, ease of operation with both right and left hands, and lightweight operation.

Blade - Sheepsfoot type, finished to mask minor scratches from use using the Stonewashed method. The gently curved cutting edge converges towards the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The thickness of the blade provides high strength while the high, flat grind gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Phosphor bronze washers are responsible for the smooth and smooth operation of the knife's opening mechanism. The double-sided peg in the wedge allows both right- and left-handed people to open the knife quickly and effortlessly. On the back of the upper jimping wedge, a notched thumb rest. A small choil makes sharpening easier. The whole is locked with an intuitive crossbar lock.

Handle - is two pieces of composite G10, a material extremely mechanically durable and practically completely resistant to weather conditions and chemicals, textured for improved grip security, screwed to the steel frame of the knife. The chamfered edges of the covers eliminate sharp edges for comfort and improve grip confidence. Serio holes in the Handle add visual lightness and relieve stress on the knife. The lightweight backspacer provides the desired rigidity and strength of the design The simple, secure design gives confidence for years of use. A deep finger undercut (fore finger groove) improves grip confidence. The pivot axis is adorned with a stylized Kubey Knife brand logo. A two-position (right/left) deep carry clip allows you to carry the knife discreetly in your pocket in the tip-up (blade tip up) position.
