Microtech Ultratech T/E Gen III ZBP OTF Knife Black Aluminum, Stonewashed M390MK by Tony Marfione (1123-10)
- Ultratech T/E Gen III ZBP Black Aluminum, Stonewashed offers a range of enhancements: an improved glass breaker, along with key innovations such as the Crud Kutter™, Dual-Fuel Drive Train™, and Zero Blade Play™.
Ultratech T/E Gen III ZBP Black Aluminum, Stonewashed is a new version of the Ultratech series - the first OTF knife from Microtech without any blade play after unfolding! The “blade play free” automatic knife stands out with a number of improvements, such as; Crud Kutter™, Dual-Fuel Drive Train™, Zero Blade Play™. The handle has also been redesigned and features solutions known from other models. Working in D/A (Double Action) mode, it allows the blade to be quickly extended and retracted with a flick of the thumb. The design by Tony Marfione, owner of Microtech Knives, combines modern design with the highest quality of workmanship
Zero Blade Play™ - a redesigned blade locking system that eliminates the problem of play on the blade after opening, a common issue with other OTF knives.
Dual-Fuel Drive Train™ - an updated knife opening/closing system that works more smoothly and requires less force to open/close the knife.
Crud Kutter™ - a series of diagonal cuts under the opening slider prevents the accumulation of dirt that could interfere with the opening mechanism.
Ultratech OTF Line - the flagship Microtech model from the OTF line that set the standard for all Out The Front cutters. The Ultratech's patented trigger spring design ensures that the spring is always in a “resting” position, except when the knife is being used. This prevents the spring from wearing out, reduces wear and tear on the internal trigger mechanisms and ensures that the knife will always work effectively. Its light weight, one-hand opening and closing, slim handle and sharp blade make this a one-of-a-kind knife, available only from Microtech.
M390MK - thanks to the cooperation of Microtech and Böhler engineers, an exclusive version of M390 steel has been created, made only for Microtech. The carbon content has been increased and subjected to more precise control, improving the properties of M390 steel to ensure better edge retention, corrosion resistance and polishing. Martensitic high-performance chromium steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to the alloy concept, it is characterized by an extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Thanks to the high wear resistance, the shape of the edge is properly maintained, so that the blade remains sharp for a very long time (requires minimal maintenance). Another advantage is the resistance to “wire” formation during sharpening. Steel with a high chromium content of 19.0% (Cr) with an admixture of 1.95% carbon (C), 4.0% vanadium (V), hardened to 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - machine-ground T/E (Tanto Edge), sharpened on one side. Finished with a stonewashed look to hide minor scratches caused by use. The blade is ground to a high flat grind, which ensures excellent cutting properties. This gives the knife excellent piercing properties while maintaining high strength. The powerful blade extension/retraction mechanism Dual-Fuel Drive Train™, which is activated by a knurled thumb slide, requires a certain amount of force to overcome the resistance of the spring. The opening method ensures that it can be opened easily by both right- and left-handed people. The Crud Kutter™ system cuts below the slider to prevent dirt build-up.
Handle - precision-made in 3D technology on CNC milling machines from hard-coated Mil-Spec aluminum 6061-T6. The blade features a deeply engraved Microtech logo, the talon of a bird of prey. The texture of the handle ensures that the knife does not slip in the hand during use. There are jimping on the back and bottom of the handle for a more secure grip. Traditional Torx screws are used to fasten the grips, which makes the knife very easy to service. The slim profile and milled two-position (right/left) solid titanium deep carry clip allow the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket in a tip-down position. Equipped with a smooth rollerball, thanks to which the knife easily slides into the pocket without damaging the edges of the pocket. The handle is finished with a new version of the glass breaker, a steel pyramid with a tungsten carbide ball pressed into it. There is a hole at the back of the handle for a decorative cord.
