Rick Hinderer is an American knife designer and founder of the Rick Hinderer Knives brand , who has been creating durable, functional blades since the late 1980s, inspired by his own experience as a firefighter and paramedic. His designs are characterized by thoughtful ergonomics, high resistance to stress and reliability in everyday use and field conditions. Hinderer's designs often feature a distinctive stonewash finish , precise fit of components and practical technical solutions. M390 Microclean® - a martensitic high-performance chrome steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to the alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 20.0% (Cr) doped with 1.9% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), hardened between 59-61 HRC, vacuum and cryogenic treatment and double tempering.
